When living in nature for extended periods of time, I become progressively more distanced from the so-called “civilized” world. The seemingly indispensable components of daily life, from the telephone, the newspaper, to a bed and a shower, to the presence and interactions with other human beings… things begin losing their significance. The spaces I create in nature are architectural, psychological, spiritual. The materials for these projects are borrowed for a brief moment in time before they are returned to Earth.
